Good morning. My name is Barney Roewart, and I'm part of the Pastor Search Committee for Peninsula Baptist Church. I’m joined by our entire Pastor Search team to share some exciting news with you this morning.
Several months ago we met for the first time to search for a lead pastor to replace Pastor Jackson. As you all know, Pastor Jackson has been shepherding and ministering at this church for the last 35 years. We were facing a task that hadn't been done in our church before. And as we got into the process, we began to ask, “How are we going to do this?" But, thankfully through the will of God, and through His direction for us, we have come to find the man God has raised up for this church. Through the search process, we used many resources and documents supplied by the NC Baptist Association, devotionals, performance reviews, and many others.
Most importantly, we used God’s scriptures to guide us through the entire process. The main verses we used were 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 5:1-9 and 1 Peter 5:1-4. These scriptures were essential for the guidance of our minds and our hearts in prayer and God’s choosing.
A couple of weeks back we had narrowed our search down to just a few candidates. At that time, we sensed that it was time to cast our votes from the narrowed down list of candidates. As a team, we had decided that we would only move forward with a person if all of our votes were unanimous. When we came together for that particular meeting two weeks ago, we all got onto our knees in a time of prayer. During the prayer, when each member felt led by the Lord to cast their vote, they wrote down a name and placed it in a bowl on the table. After each person had written a name, I tallied the votes, and it was unanimous. Pastor Daniel Dye.
Throughout the many interviews, we had the opportunity to talk with and meet many wonderful candidates. But, as we began to interview Pastor Daniel, it was apparent and evident how he was such an excellent fit for our church as a Senior Pastor as well as he met all of the requirements that the committee had set for the process. We are thankful to God for bringing us to this point, and we thank you for allowing us to serve in this role.
September 28, 2018 update
Today the church approved the motion to elect Pastor Daniel Dye to serve as Senior/Lead Pastor of Peninsula Baptist Church. Of 329 valid ballots cast by church members and counted by the trustees, the results were as follows:
- YES ----- 305 (92.7%)
- NO ----- 23
- 1 Abstention
The Personnel Committee approved granting Pastor Daniel study leave during the month of October to prepare and pray before he begins his duties as Senior/Lead Pastor. Upon completion of this leave, there will be a commissioning/installation service on Sunday morning, November 4, 2018. This will be a combined worship service (one service) beginning at 10:30 a.m. This service will also mark Pastor Jackson's final Sunday as Senior Pastor of Peninsula Baptist Church.

August 8, 2018 update
The Pastor Selection Committee has been meeting weekly (sometimes twice a week). It has been my pleasure to be working alongside this great group of ladies and gentlemen. Our desire has been (and continues to be) to allow the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to guide us through this process. The referral and resume submission period ended July 31, 2018. A profile of our Senior/Lead Pastor has been defined in God’s Word in Titus 1:5 -9; I Tim 3: 1-7; and I Peter 5:1-4. The committee is looking at resumes based on that profile, contacting some applicants for more information when needed, and preparing to contact applicants about God’s call upon their life in regards to Peninsula Baptist Church. The committee seeks and welcomes your continued prayer. --- Barney Roewart, Chairman

February 12, 2018 update
On February 11, 2018, I announced to the church family that I felt the Lord‘s leading to transition into retirement. Over the past 35 years, it has been my joy and privilege to serve as your pastor. I desire to finish strong and enter retirement with the confidence that Peninsula Baptist Church is powerfully positioned to reach this generation for Christ. The task is great, but our God is greater.
Three years ago, we believed the Lord led us to begin the Building a Generation campaign to prepare Peninsula to send a generation of believers into the world. God continues to honor our faithfulness to Him and our faithfulness to the vision He has placed on our hearts. We have established a firm foundation for the future ministry of Peninsula Baptist Church.
Pastor Robert Jackson
