The Gospel We Received
We often think of the gospel as Christianity 101—the elementary lesson we learn before moving on to deeper things. But what if we've misunderstood its role entirely? This message challenges us to see the gospel not as a starting point we leave behind, but as the foundation we build everything upon. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 15, we're reminded that the gospel isn't just what saves us from sin's penalty—it's actively saving us from sin's power today, and will one day save us from sin's very presence. We need to stand firmly on the truth that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose on the third day—not as ancient history, but as the living reality that reshapes how we see God, ourselves, sin, grace, suffering, forgiveness, and mission. The gospel forms us because it gives us solid ground when everything else feels unstable. We're not graduating beyond it; we're going deeper into it, discovering that spiritual maturity means becoming more rooted in this good news, not less.
