The Way Home - Orphan Care Ministry

The Way Home is built on a mission to help care for orphans in our community and the world. There is a place for every Peninsula family to actively care for orphans or to support adoptive and foster families. The mission is building Christian homes through the miracle of adoption and foster care by connecting children and adults to the love of Jesus Christ.

James 1:27

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

The Way Home Interest Meeting

Are you interested in The Way Home Ministry? Want to know what we do and how you can be a part of supporting families that are involved in foster care or adoption? Want to know how we support our local social workers? Want to know about Heritage Builders?

Join us for an interest meeting on Sunday, May 24 from 12:30-1:30pm. We will provide lunch and childcare.

Heritage Builders Program

Teenagers living in foster care must overcome significant hurdles to age-out of the system well and become healthy, productive adults. How are these challenges overcome so that negative generational cycles - including high rates of unplanned pregnancies, incarcerations, and homelessness are broken?
The answer is through YOU - the church - sharing the gospel and providing practical support. Heritage Builders provides comprehensive training and tools for you to come alongside these vulnerable youth at such a critical life stage.

At Peninsula, we pair advocates with a teen and commit to meeting once a month (on a Monday night). We provide mentorship and biblically-based practical life skills.

Our 2026/2027 Schedule is as follows:
June 22 - Self Care
July 13 - Special Outing... a fishing trip
August 3 - Car Care
September 7 - Healthy Relationships
October 5 - Money Management
November 2 -Education and Job Prep
December 7 - Christmas Party
January 4 - Navigating Available Resources
February 1 - Daily Living (Meal planning/budgeting)
March 1 - Shopping Trip
April 5 - Purpose and Vision Boards
May 3 - Celebration Night

We need several more advocates and a bus driver.

Foster and Adoption Stories

Each family that adopts or fosters has a unique story, we believe, woven together by God.
These are stories of hope, questions, patience, joy, and love...
